Alta Sierra Property Owners AssociationMaking Alta Sierra attractive, safe, harmonious, and healthy for all residents
The Alta Sierra Property Owners Association is a community-based organization located in the foothills of Northern California. Not far away are the communities of Grass Valley and Nevada City, both part of Nevada County. The Association (A.S.P.O.A.), a not-for-profit organization made up of volunteers, has served the Alta Sierra community since 1971. It is governed by an elected Board of Directors, consisting of nine members and several standing committees, which establish and administer its policies and programs.
The ASPOA Board of Directors met ay 9:00 am on May 4, 2009 at the Alta Sierra Country Club. Board members discussed a number of topics.

ASPOA’s popular Annual Yard Waste Collection will be held on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17 at the NID reservoir site on Francis Way near Ragan Drive. Enter at the northern gate which will be open between 8 AM and 3 PM each day. This program is a cooperative effort of ASPOA, the County of Nevada, our Consolidated Fire District, Nevada Irrigation District, Waste Management, and the Fire Safe Council (FSC). The waste is processed into fuel for power plants or mulch for highway landscaping.
The program is available to all residents, and is free to ASPOA members. Non-members will pay $10 per day for the drop-offs since the FSC’s grants may not assist in funding our event this year. Neighbors are invited to deliver their clean debris (no nails or thorny shrubs) to be unloaded at the site by our crews. Green waste may include leaves, branches, limbs, clean root balls, or firewood. Only hand-stacked loads will be accepted at the site; a tarp placed below the debris will expedite the unloading by our crews. Plastic debris bags may be damaged and will be returned to owners for disposal.
Additional information on the event may be obtained by contacting Al Schafer at 271-0766 or afsarch@sbcglobal.net.
