Heads Up! District Supervisor Candidates’ Night - September 23

Kathy Carey July 17th, 2008

ASPOA will host a public forum for our 2 candidates for Nevada County Supervisor, District 2.  Most of Alta Sierra is within District 2, with the exception of our northern edge which is represented by District 1 Supervisor, Nate Beason.  The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 PM at the Alta Sierra Country Club on Tuesday, September 23.  Absentee Ballots will be mailed to registered voters shortly after this program.

The format for the evening will allow each candidate to introduce himself, describe his primary issues, and answer questions from Alta Sierra residents.  You are invited to send questions for the candidates in advance to www.aspoa.org/contact or to ask them personally at the event.  Presentations, questions and responses will be moderated for time to allow a chance for anyone wishing to speak. Our District 2 candidates recently provided the following statements for your consideration.  Ed Scofield states “As a long time resident of Alta Sierra, I am aware of many of the issues facing Nevada County and especially District II.  I look forward to greeting many of my neighbors and discussing our mutual concerns.  I want the residents of Alta Sierra to know that I’m listening and will do my best to represent you as a County Supervisor.”  Candidate Alan Kilborn states “Nevada County is challenged with fire danger traffic and growth issues, and economic concerns.  We must fortify our fire and law enforcement agencies with first class equipment, training, and compensation.  Highway 49 safety must be improved.  Our tax base and growth issues require careful and serious planning to attract high quality business/employers with affordable housing and appropriate wages to keep our workforce local and tax base strong.”

Plan to attend our Candidates’ Night on September 23.  Light refreshments will be served.  For further information or suggestions, contact ASPOA president Al Schafer at afsarch@sbcglobal.net or 271-0766.
